With tears in my eyes, and long nights of staring at the ceiling, I have decided to rehome my 5 year old Quarter Horse that I received in April, Mia. She is about 15.2 lean (vet said keep her at the weight she is - will explain in a minute) and vaccines and worming is listed below. She is a sweetheart.
I have contacted the lady that I got her from to make sure she does not want her back first, but I thought that I would let you all know and if someone is interested.
Mia was vet checked on May 23rd, 2008 and found to be in great health. The only thing that we looked at that posed a question was her right front ankle joint. Mia was stepped on when she was a foal by her mother and broke her leg. It is healed and caused no problems for her. The Vet said that there is no reason that she can not be riden or worked as it poses her no complications - just looks a little bigger then the other. She also mentioned to keep her weight a little on the light side so that she does not become overweight and cause issues on that ankle for her. The Vet also said that she is 5 as her teeth are coming in that they receive at 5 and did not see any wolf teeth.
She had her vaccines the same day, and I will booster them on the 13th so she will be good to go and her hooves were done the end of April and the farrier is due back out the end of this month. She will also be dewormed on the 13th of June.
Ok, you are probobly wondering why I am finding her a new home..... well, although I have some horse experience, it was 15 years ago and it was with horses that were already broke and rideable. Some had a few quirks but nothing bad. Mia, I was told, was rideable, but the lady that I got her from never tried to ride her (had only had her about 3 months when I got her because the original owner could not feed her any longer and started starving her). Mia has become very herd bound in such a short time, and it has made it very difficult for me to work with her and still feel confortable (safe). She has not been "mean" so to speak - but our personalities just are not working well together. I personally think that there is NO way that this horse was riden. She was probobly started and maybe even used for ponying but to take her out - I am not seeing that at all.
I know that I could send her to training, but at the moment, that is not an option, as I have had a couple things come up and the soonest that I would be able to is winter. I really would like to see her go to a home that knows more and has worked with a somewhat green horse previously. She just needs someone that has more to offer her then myself.
Here is the kicker - I am NOT looking to sell her. I will give her to anyone on here or to someone that one of you know AND trust. I just want her to be happy and loved. She would even be the best for a 4h child that has horse experience!
If you think that you or someone that you know might be interested in her - please let me know.
