Pierce County Conservation District presents: Small Horse Farm Tour Harrald Farm, Graham Saturday, October 13th, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. You are invited to visit James and Laura Harrald’s 2.37 acre farm in Graham. The Harrald’s have set up paddocks for their two horses that, although they do not contain footing materials, are almost mud-free due to the installation of barn roof gutters and drains, stall mats, and waste-free hay feeders. Tour the farm’s pastures and learn about utilizing rotational grazing to increase forage production. See the inexpensively constructed manure composting bins made from pallets and tarps, and learn about Laura’s “manure share” program to remove excess manure from the farm.
Please call René or Erin at (253) 845-9770 or (253) 884-9474 to register for any of the fall workshops. Maps will be sent to you after you register.

Sounds like they're very efficient! Wish they were a bit closer as I'd love to see what they've got going. Manure share? That really sounds tantalizing!

The PCCD is VERY informative. They came out to my place when I was on the coast and did a "Farm Plan". It was very helpful and it was something the landlord wanted done. Rene' went through my pasture and told me about all the different grasses growing and lots of information about it all... I forgot a lot! *LOL* I wish I could learn again but I don't see me going back to the coast for that.
King County has a Conservation District too. I think they also have workshops like this too.
