This was a really fun event! There were a few challenges to be worked out as there are with any "first" event, but what a blast! Had a great time, the people were great, and I'm looking forward to doing it again!

Can you tell me what it was all about? I'm clueless (been hanging out with sheep too long, I guess!)

Tracey, This was an outdoor trail course. They had 35 'obstacles' they tested you on. Things like walking over a bridge, walking over poles and then through shower curtains, between the mine shaft and barrels, walking into an 'L' shape and backing out, walking through water, loping or troting from one place to another, pulling a fir tree branch, opening and closing a gate, dismounting and placing a yellow slicker on your saddle then mounting and placing the slicker on another standard, walking over garbage, and the list goes on...
It was really fun and challenging! Next time though I will seperate myself from my friends. They started the horses 5 minutes apart and when things got backed up my horse wanted to join her friend.
These trail challenges are getting more and more popular. In Oregon's Horse Center (http://www.oregonhorsecenter.com/Events.aspx) they have a huge trail challenge with waterfalls and everything. You don't need special tack or silver - you use the same equipment as you would for a day on the trails. Appearance doesn't matter - however if there is a tie, the person who has clean tack and such would win.
You should give it a try sometime. Tough thing is finding them to ride in!
Cheers!

One of my friends qualified for the finals, don't know which division. Her name is Taran.

Sounds like fun! I always loved trail class. Perhaps when Jet gets a little further along in her training I'll have to give it a try.
