Program: Session 1: Understanding Equine Cushing’s disease, Metabolic Syndrome & Insulin Resistance and their relationship to laminitis – 30 min Session 2: Introduction to Laminitis: Foot Anatomy, Causes & Symptoms – 30 min Session 3: Laminitis treatment & management options (Acute versus chronic) – 30 min Session 4: Trimming & shoeing options to treat coffin bone rotation and sinking – 30 min Session 5: New & Emerging treatment options for difficult & refractory laminitis – 15 min Session 6: Participants will be divided in groups & rotate in these Practical Labs: 60 min • How to feel digital pulses, warm hooves and sensitive soles • How to view and understand foot radiographs (X-rays) • Different trimming, pads and shoeing options for laminitis Session 7: Nutrition and dietary management of the laminitic horse by PURINA – 30 min
