If you and your husband are serious about hauling hay, you should look into doing it for a side job......I am sure you can be very busy; but it is hard work loading and unloading a trailer full of hay.... one thing.. you will be in good shape. If you cant find anything in Ellensburg, I might be able to hook you up with some guys here in the George area whom have hay and grass hay that isn't spoken for. I will look for your post on here......... good luck

If anyone decides to drive over to our area from the coast I will drop our price by $15 a ton, due to the gas prices. We can load trailers, with our squeeze loader on our tractor. So you would only have to unload by hand once you got home.
We have some nice timothy grass hay, alfalfa/grass hay and straight alfalfa, the straight alfalfa protein levels are at 14%, good for horses.

Paintedzip.... I dont understand why you are so willing to sell your hay for so cheap......... goodness, if it is good hay you can get more out of it..........Is it dry land hay??? I know here in the Columbia basin is the cheapest for power and water but still .... to produce really good hay it needs Weed control, fertilizer, water, power and not to mention all the fuel for all of the different machines to go over the land in the process of getting the hay off the field....... we own our own machines (tractors, balers, swather, balewagons, rakes) but it still cost for fuel, oil, insurance, and all the rest, plus the sleepness nights doing dew watch............ I am just curious how you guys are able to put it up and not charge much for the product. I am really not trying to be nosey, I just want to be educated.
thanks, sue

To be honest that is what the going rate for hay is over here. Every hay farmer around here charges the same prices as we do, we also test our hay, and we have irrigation. Most of our hay will all be sold by March, this time of the year there is an over abundance of hay, by spring time everyone will need it.
We cannot afford to haul it over the mountains, if we did then we would be charging more per ton, just like the folks do on the coast.
We just bought a brand new JD tractor, and a new NH Bale Wagon, so believe me I know how much it cost to produce and put the hay up.

Hey PZ... I'm going to map check Chewelah (as I have NO clue where that is!) and talk to a friend about coming over for some Timothy (she's got 19 ponies and goes thru it! I've only gotta keep about 11 animals over the winter)... $75 a ton you say? You're a doll! I'll get back to you soon... ~Sarah

It looks like you're about 1-2 hours North of Spokane? And you have 30 tons to sell?

PZ... I think it is awesome that you are giving a break to those who have to drive so far...I also think it is a great price for your hay, although I think it is too cheap. I have helped put up hay for about 30 yrs (in one way or another) and it is a lot of seat time on one machine or the other...... My favorite is stacking... swathing is way too slow.......... but... people need a break for sure, especially when they have multiple mouths to feed.......
My suggestion is....... to those of you who have lots to feed this winter... get over here and get some hay from PZ...... your going to be glad you did. Our hay is all sold to Dels, except for my hay here at the house of which I have PLENTY...... but seriously, the word is... ITS GOING UP.

I know what the prices are on the coast I used to live over there, and it is ridiculous that people are paying over $200 for a ton of hay. If someone on the coast could line up a semi they really could get a good deal. I just don't know anyone. Maybe get 10 - 20 people to get between 5 - 10 ton each. Then you all would just have to split the cost of the fuel and driver time. Anybody know of anyone that owns a semi....

Are you taking orders now for a later delivery, or do you do cash and carry?

Well, my hubby works for Swift. In order to get driver/truck/trailer you have to call Swift and book a load. he has a fiend who has his own semi and flat bed, I don't know if he would do something like that. My hubby has his CDL, but no truck/trailer. It would be an awesome deal. I just paid $13.50 per bale of alfalfa!OUCH!

Hello my name is Kurt Wade. I am from Western Wa. I would like to purchase some Timothy can you please call me at 425-268-0966? I work with an extensive group of breeders and trainers. I only brought my pickup this time but if it works out I do have access to a semi to haul back and forth.
